MCRI Staff Undergo Fire Safety and Emergency Response Training

Mbale Clinical Research Institute (MCRI) successfully conducted a comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Response Training in partnership with Cathman Occupational Health and Safety Ltd. The training aimed to strengthen staff capacity in fire prevention, risk assessment, and emergency management.

The sessions covered fire risk assessment, theoretical lessons on fire types and extinguishers, practical firefighting drills, and evacuation procedures. Staff also received guidance on handling fire accident victims and participated in an on-site inspection to identify potential safety risks.

Through the training, several areas for improvement were identified, including the need for proper fire exit signage, installation of hydrant systems, display of evacuation plans, and replacement of damaged extinguisher components. MCRI’s Infrastructure Committee and Fire Marshal have been tasked with implementing the recommended actions to ensure full compliance and workplace safety.
